Although I am proudly 1/8 Armenian, I have blonde hair and speak as much Japanese as I do Armenian (which is none). To add to this ethnic confusion, I also consider myself a born-again African, and I do khuluma isiZulu (yes, I can click—but not nearly as well as my South African friends). My love for writing began as a little kid when I would write and illustrate fairy tales. My confidence grew when I won 4th place (I even got a ribbon) in my elementary school's Reflections Contest in 3rd grade for a poem I wrote about a fish in a dish (imitating Dr. Seuss's style). It was a masterpiece. Now, I write emails, papers, and an occasional journal entry. Maybe someday I'll take up my poetic talent again. |
